Good vegetarian restaurants Toronto

Posted on by Keenan Henson

The top vegetarian restaurants in Toronto continue to get better and better. Offerings go beyond mock meat, rice and quinoa bowls have evolved and be extensive and now practically everything gets paired using a smoothie or cold pressed juice.

Urban Herbivore

Plant-based salads and sandwiches are some of the the specialties only at that lunch counter with locations in the Eaton Centre food court and also Kensington Market. Also find creamy pureed soups, juices that are pressed, and fresh baked goods.

This take out counter on Dundas West serves up an ever-changing menu featuring unique dishes like pakora bennies or pad thai salad. This place is helmed by accomplished chef/owner Ren Mercer, who's got 20-plus years of experience working in high end restaurants. Expect the unexpected.

Hogtown Vegan

Veganism will not need to be synonymous with clean eating - occasionally cravings call for oily brunch foods, filthy plates of nachos or unchicken and waffles. That is precisely where this Bloordale eatery shines, and to boot, there's a lot of beer and cocktails.

Fresh on Eglinton

With four locations around town, Fresh has created itself as Toronto's go-to for mostly-vegan offerings, including hamburgers, tacos and immense rice bowls. Smoothies are also offered by them and recently unveiled a cold-pressed juice line.

Party catering Toronto

The eatery on Palmerston near Faculty isn't entirely vegetarian, but it offers a meatless menu, so vegetarians need not scrutinize each dish before ordering. Dishes evolve seasonally, but their gnocchi are always a sure bet.

Hibiscus Cafe

The Kensington Market stalwart is a family operated and owned cafe known for gluten free, organic vegetarian cuisine. The menu boasts crowd pleasers like buckwheat crepes, soups, salads and vegan ice creams.

Kupfert & Kim

What started as one vegan, gluten free lunch counter in the TRAIL has blossomed into a favorite multi-location chain of eateries. Menus vary by location, but the bunch faves will be tacos, burgers and the grain bowls.

The vegetarian restaurant on College Street serves up a wide-ranging collection of meat-free foods. Nibble on bites like girl un- nuggets, or appreciate hearty entrees like chili bowls, banh mi, or hamburgers.
